Local Orbost residents, Andy and Bridget Westaway, owners of MWM Logging, are just one of many businesses across Victoria who have been left in an unimaginable situation due to the State Government's plan to close the native timber industry by January 1.
The Westaways believe the uncertainty, and a lack of clarity around the shutdown, has created stress and frustration.
"There remain more questions than answers and after six months of conflicting information and empty promises it's hard to be optimistic," Mr Westaway said.
"Not having transparency means you're stuck between a rock and a hard place which has been really tough. The ongoing uncertainty and financial strain is wreaking havoc on people's mental health," he said.
Native timber logging operations were halted late last year when Victoria's state logging company, Vic-Forests, found itself embroiled in a Supreme Court fight.
