Honeycomb a wild success

Honeycomb a wild success

Six years ago, Craig Terrell and a close friend decided to attempt to breed natural resilient honeybees.
What has followed has been the most intriguing of discoveries for the bee keeper and founder of niche business Wild Honeycomb.
Mr Terrell discussed his six-year journey with the Snowy River Mail last week, detailing the lengthy, but successful, process in harvesting honey.
When first approached by Mr Terrell to attend his site and take some photographs of his hives, the Snowy River Mail  was apprehensive due to safety concerns, however agreed and was pleasantly surprised with the way in which Mr Terrell was able to interact with the bees and the level of safety he felt around them, including at one point removing his veil from his face to observe them closer.
The natural honeybees were thriving in this environment and tasting the honey certainly shows the proof is in the pudding where the aroma and taste is somehow more complex than some commercial honey, in relation to the taste of the eucalypt.
