Elvis sings Orbost’s praises

Orbost Regional Health (ORH) is looking forward to welcoming a new GP to the team.

Elvis Igbinovia will start at the Orbost Medical Clinic on Monday, July 20.

Elvis is looking forward to joining the team permanently after spending some time here as a locum earlier this year.

Following is an update from Elvis: “My practice spans 17 years and has taken me from my native country of Nigeria through Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda and finally to my new home, Australia,” he said.

“I arrived in Tasamania on a wintry night in June, 2014, I was welcomed into the caring arms of Patrick Street Clinic, Ulverstone/Penguin.

“I moved to Melbourne in mid-2016 and worked at the 24-hour Mill Park Superclinic while pursuing a Fellowship in General Practice which I completed in July, 2017.

“Following my Fellowship, I have been working as a locum GP in locations spread across this beautiful country. Orbost was one such stop earlier this year and it drew me in.

“I will be joining an amazing team at Orbost Regional Health as we support the community through this period of recovery following the recent bushfires, as we all hold hands to go through the COVID-19 challenges together.

“I love all parts of general practice but can say I have especially enjoyed helping people cope in maintaining their mental health and working with Aboriginal/Indigenous communities.

“I also look forward to exploring the sights and sounds of the region and meeting new people. I play soccer and tennis and love fishing, even though I’ve not been very lucky with catches.”
