Students share Nepal trip

Three students from Mallacoota P-12 College travelled to Nepal in April to help with scholarships for female students to be trained as trekking guides.

The girls were accompanied by a parent and a female friend, and documented their trip and developed a website that can help other students self-plan a trip – AirDucation.

Sarah Tregellas, father Mark Tregellas, Tahlia Morris and Airly Embleton-Mew along with Ann-Sophie Pilcher (an ex-Methodist Ladies College student from the Marshmead Campus at Mallacoota), spent 30 days

trekking and mixing with the locals in Nepal. Their challenges and experiences were shown in two short films at the Mudbrick

Pavilion in Mallacoota last Saturday. The large crowd was appreciative of the beautiful Himalayan scenery and enjoyed a taste of Nepalese momos (small dumplings), with dipping sauce or soup, and masala chai (tea) made by Mark and the girls.
The girls’ commentary and question and answer sessions were appreciated by the audience, in particular, a close encounter with a rhinoceros.
