Your say on fires

Your say on fires

We all have a story to tell regarding the 2019/20 Victorian fire season and the Inspector-General for Emergency Services, Tony Pearce, wants to hear the views and experiences from communities effected by the bushfires first hand.

Mr Pearce is touring fire-affected areas and holding community meetings in various towns. Last Thursday evening a small group attended a meeting at Lochiel Park.

He is looking for ways that Victorian communities can be better prepared for bushfires, respond to fires in large parts of Victoria’s North East, East Gippsland and Alpine regions, and the efforts regarding the relief and recovery.

Importance is placed on the inquiry gaining a wide variety of views with some of the most important information coming from people in these communities.

If you were unable to attend the meeting there is still an opportunity to express your views from before, during and after the event via a submission to be completed by April 15, 2020. Visit the Inspector-General for Emergency Services Victoria website for further information.
